Newton Abbot Homemade Jewellery

Not a sponsored post as I don't profit from it.

In a quiet-ish town in the south west called Newton Abbot in Devon lives a young woman who spends her spare time making up little jewellery items. It started off from the purchase of a little jewellery making set in Argos and spread out into a possible money making opportunity.

She brought her jewellery along to stands at truck and steam rallies throughout the south west and then moved on to local school fairs. Now by branching out onto a facebook page and even posting items on to ebay the chance to snap up the items is getting easier and easier.

The company was only created during Summer 2013 and is still fairly new. If you want affordable, cute and often one of a kind pieces then this is someone to look out for. Most if not all jewellery items cost less than £5. Due to the pricing you can gather that no precious metals are involved. But what can you expect for less than a fiver. Sometimes recycled jewellery pieces are used so if you have a charm or pendant you loved but the chain may have broken you could get fashioned into a new jewellery item. If the item purchased breaks or is incorrectly sized then it can be returned to the maker and she will try to correct the problem.

If you are not in the local area then you can pay by paypal and get the items sent to you.

Examples of products on offer. Do excuse picture quality this was the best I could get for now.

Does this work? Veet facial hair remover

This is rather embarrassing to admit to the internet but because I have incredibly dark hair to the point it's practically black it means I have rather prominent facial hair. Now this is certainly a rather embarrassing thing for a teenage girl with her face being pretty much her only attractive feature. I have spent around 4 years trying to find cost effective ways of getting rid of this hair and I must tell you if you have an issue similar to mine NEVER shave it. It's a bastard when it grows again because the blunt edge of the hair makes it look darker against your skin especially when you're pale.

Anyway onto the product... I picked up this hair remover for around 3 pounds in Morrison's (yes I shop there a lot) and saw it was specially formulated for the face and sensitive skin. Now I have tried regular hair remover and I always found it left me with a red and sore upper lip so I hoped this wouldn't do the same.

I found the application method using the spatula to be pretty pointless and fiddly. It left some areas with thinner coverage or absolutely no cream on it at all. I gave up using it after the first try and just decided to apply it with my fingers.

The product for me worked in the 5 minutes which I found quite good as I have very dark thick hair and thought it would take the longer time listed on the box.

Since picking up the box in Morrison's I haven't needed to search for it but I haven't noticed it in other shops. So keep your eyes peeled for it if you need it.

New Look Online

So I have recently developed a love of online shopping. I used to be REALLY against it because well who'd wanna pay like a fiver and wait a week when you can use that fiver to hop on a bus and get the stuff straight away. But as time has gone on, shipping has improved and Online Exclusives have been born I have found myself clicking onto a certain site in particular.

http://www.newlook.com/

Now I am OBVIOUSLY in no way being made to do this by the company... I don't have enough page views or followers for that but I thought I would ya know inform the people that do click on here of my experiences of purchasing from this website.

All in all I have purchased from this website around 4 or 5 times and every time I have been pleased with the products and service I have received.

I find that the selection process and checkout is simple to understand and the websites layout is pleasant. With it being mostly black and white on the background the product pictures are enhanced so you can see them well and there is also more than one angle available for the product.
There's no hidden charges, the postage is put straight onto the order in your basket so you know how much you've spent before you decide on whether you want to commit to purchasing or not.

I've used both next day and standard delivery although I haven't had to pay for either as they have it where if you spend over 45 pounds you get free standard delivery. Every now and again they offer the next day for free when you spend around 75 but you have to check for the offer first.

The products were delivered quickly even on standard delivery the longest I had to wait was 2 working days. They send an email when your order has been dispatched and I found that generally the parcel arrived either that day or the day after depending on when in the week you ordered. The delivery company were always pleasant when I opened the door and the bags were never damaged (but this could be different for different regions)

Unfortunately I can't comment on the returns service as I haven't needed to return an item but I do know that it can be taken into a store with the paperwork you receive in the delivery and it can be refunded or if available in store exchanged there.

Primark

This is more a general review of the shop and of the overall products rather than singular items.

I have a love hate relationship with Primark. I love how cheap it is and I even love a lot of the gear in there but I HATE how people judge you for buying from there. I mean what's it matter to you whether I want to save money and buy more items rather than going and buying a single designer item.

Over the past few years I have noticed a steady increase in the quality of Primark clothing. The fabrics used are getting softer and so much better to wear. Admittedly the seams in some of my t-shirts still get out of line after quite a bit of washing but for like 4 pounds you can't expect the world. The skater dresses I have fit perfectly to my waist but with being rather short legged I find they hit my knees wrong but that's more a case of my genetics rather than the product.

I'm being reminded of the saying "You get what you pay for." but to me a lot of the products are better than what you pay for. The low pricing means I don't have to worry about my cats shoving a claw through it and causing a hole or if I'm searching for a good picture opportunity and I end up falling into a hedge ruining it. I can just go out and replace it the next day. The items I haven't ripped holes into have managed to last me absolutely years, I have some shirts that are still together after 3 years of use if not even longer.

They've also spread their sizing out, when I first started shopping there it used to only be size 8 to 18 and now there is size 6 and size 20 on offer which may not sound like a lot but it will have brought quite a lot of customers in for them by making those 2 extra sizes but they need to think about the bigger boobed girl as I have seen plenty for singular cup sizes such as e's and f's even though they're rather small on the cup fitting for me. When I was last measured I came out as a DD and I can't get an F cup to fit without them bulging out the top so either I suddenly like quadruple in size as I walk through the doors or the bras are shit fitting. I haven't decided and science hasn't proven the boob growth phenomenon yet.

One thing I DO NOT buy from there though is leggings, they're miles too thin of a fabric. I've seen so many people wearing them and the amount of knickers I have seen would damage the eyes of an ann summers girl let alone a regular person. Please please please IF you do purchase them from there, make sure you wear something that covers your arse.

Anyway you might not agree with shopping there but not every person can afford to pay 20 pounds for a jumper or 40 pounds for a dress and 100 for a pair of shoes so we have to shop where we can.

Summer Loves

So here in Britain we have been suffering from a heatwave for the past 2-3 weeks and it has been like burning in the pits of hell. Now yeah feel free to go on a rant about how much hotter it is where you are than here but well to be quite honest WE ARE NOT USED TO THIS DAMN WEATHER!.
Anyway enough complaining and more explaining. I decided what with the recent weather I would post up a list of things I have been loving this month and will likely be using the next :D

So my number one love for the summer is.... THE MESSY BUN!
Seriously this is pretty much my daily hairstyle in this weather. I have dark brown practically black hair and it's incredibly thick so I can get crazy warm if I have it down and even in a ponytail. So generally I wear it in a messy bun high on my head to keep it off of my neck. I also love how simple it is, you can just use a hair bobble or just a handful of bobby pins depending on what you have lying at the bottom of your bag.

Number two is MAXI'S
I am currently loving maxi skirts and maxi dresses. I mainly wear black ones because they go with everything and slim you slightly. I prefer looser maxis for everyday wear as they allow more air around you but if I am wearing one out for a meal or something then I prefer a slightly tighter one.

Three... I would have to say Mojito's
So I am of legal drinking age in the UK which means I can have the alcoholic version of the drink but I actually started getting into the drink when I had the Morrisons Mojito Juice Drink which doesn't contain any alcohol and have currently bought 6 bottles of it in the past month. So you younger people can enjoy it too as long as there's a morrisons near you... :/ I absolutely love the combination of flavours and I find it to be very refreshing in the hot weather.

Four has to be my phone :D
Now my phone is the Sony Xperia Z in black. I love it, I feel lost when I don't have it xD
I use it for music, instagram (heavennleahh), tumblr (lifeofamegafreak), twitter (@HeavenAughton) and snapchat throughout the day.
I then play games on it when I am sat around doing nothing such as waiting for my food at a restaurant/cafe or driving on long journeys.
Most played games are Temple run 2, Subway Surfers, Candy Crush and 3D bowling :D

Five is a food item and it's STRAWBERRIES <3
I love strawberries they're pretty much the only fruit I eat apart from pineapple xD I love summer time because that's when strawberries are at their best, plus Wimbledon is like the best time to eat them xD

Six is the Wilkinson sword hydro silk razor now I don't know if people will find this too much but tbh I have to get it out there.
I got this little baby on special, it was half price at £4.99 and I can honestly say I love it. I have had for over a month now and every time I use it I am left with lovely soft skin on my legs and I only need to use water for it to work. I have never suffered razor burn from it which was a big problem with my previous razor experiences. The blades are rather expensive at like 8 pound per set of 3 but I don't mind paying for the quality. The handle is shaped well so I find it really comfortable to hold and use.

So that's pretty much all for now, I don't have any make up items on here as I go barefaced pretty much all of the time unless it's an important occasion. I also don't have skin care on here due to me suffering from eczema from may to september when it's warmer so it's pretty much all medicine based.

Bye for now :D x

Swimwear :D

So it's summer... The time of getting our bodies out and feeling self conscious. On days where it's sunny it seems that pretty much the whole of the country head to the beach or into the back yard (garden if they're one of the lucky ones) and browning ourselves.
With the current growth in obesity I am seeing more massive bellies in bikinis than ever. Not a good look unless you want to be rolled into the ocean after being mistaken for a beached whale to be honest.
I decided to write this post about swimwear as a larger woman hoping to help those not wanting to be known for the rest of their life as a whale.
Really to be honest I don't understand why they make bikinis in anything over a size 18-20 because it really is not flattering on anyone larger.
If I want a two piece then I go for a tankini plus it still lets you tan your back because you can roll it up. I also usually mix it with a high waisted brief which helps suck in the muffin top :D
Generally I go for a nice one piece. If I'm gonna be out in public somewhere like the beach or lounging by the pool on holiday I prefer the ones that look a little fancier such as control rouching details around the stomach region and underwired cups because you don't really want your tits flopping about as you roll over to even your tan. I also love bright prints which is odd due to my size issue but somehow I feel more like people are admiring the print than wondering "how many pies did she eat for that belly?" if you don't feel comfortable with a print though black and red never fail to look good whether you're as pale as a ghost or as brown as caramel.
But if I'm just going for a swim in the local swimming baths I just go for a regular cheapo cossie as long as its tight enough to hold my boobs in xD
Now technically I can't tell you what to wear so I'm telling you my experience and letting you judge from it :) so go out then and get splashing!

Dear (blank)

Hahaa this goes around the internet so much so I just thought hey why not start it on here. :D

Dear person I hate, learn to be nicer.
Dear person I like, I think you're great and thank you for being in my life.
Dear ex boyfriend, You're a massive dick and you need to sort your control issues

Dear ex bestfriend, sorry I moved 300 miles away
Dear bestfriend, (haven't got one)
Dear Santa, I'm sorry I grew up and stopped believing.
Dear Mum, I wish you actually listened to me rather than shouting your head off on the defense. I am not a jury I am your daughter.
Dear Dad, Thank you for being my dad...
Dear future me, good luck with your dreams
Dear past me, life gets happier
Dear person I’m jealous of, it's not a bad kind of jealous, take it as a compliment I think you're beautiful.
Dear person I had a crush on, you're cute.
Dear [future] girlfriend, (don't know if I will ever have one)
Dear [future] boyfriend, sorry that my previous boyfriend screwed my head up.
Dear *anyone* YOUR LIFE IS VALUABLE DON'T THROW IT AWAY OVER SOME BULLIES! IT WILL GET BETTER <3

Feminism and Judgement

Okay I am going to start this off with a little information. I am 18 years old. I am currently in college getting an education, and I want a job and a chance to earn my own money. You wouldn't judge me for this yet somehow when I turn around and tell another female my plan for later life I am treated as a bad person to my gender.

I want to grow up meet a nice man (If that's possible lol) and then hopefully get married. If this happens then I would love to at least have one child. I want to carry that child in my body for nine months before bringing it into the world and raising it myself not through a nanny. Now this is where the dirty looks come in.

I am looked at as if I am crazy, as if to want to raise my own child is wrong. I am slowly beginning to feel as if women are expected to quit their "genetic role" and just become the leaders of top businesses and have no husband or children. Now don't get me wrong if you want to run a business feel free my dear but don't fucking judge me because I want to look after my child.

Feminism nowadays no longer means equality, it is twisted by society and the media to mean stronger than men and worth more than men. It shouldn't mean that it should mean we are equal, with an equal right to work and an equal wage payment but right now it feels like that will never happen. And I don't blame men for not wanting women to be classed as stronger, we don't like men being classed as stronger so why should men like women being classed it. WE ARE FREAKING EQUALS!

Am I the only one who feels this way? I am probably not but a lot of people won't have the guts to tell others to fuck off and then they will be left being made to feel like they're the ones in the wrong. They're not! If they want to raise their child or if they don't want to use their womb for a baby that's fine.

*Disclaimer*
When I use the term genetic role I don't mean it as being their only role in life that they should do. I mean it as a woman is genetically built to have children and look after them but they get other women to do it or just decide to no have them. Now it's your own choice if you want children I am in no way saying you SHOULD have them just because your genes allow it.

Models

Am I the only person here who thinks that somehow the face is ignored when it comes to picking models? It is as if the only things their employers care about is how small their waist is and how long their legs are.I keep seeing these adverts on TV and in magazines and somehow some of the models have THE UGLIEST faces ever. Now not all of them, some of the are absolutely gorgeous but still I can't help but wonder how the ones with the dodgy faces got the jobs.

Now you can say I'm bitter because I am short and fat but tbh I'm happy enough this way. I always thought that models were meant to be the epitome of beauty when I was younger but now as I am growing up and beginning to question what actually got these girls the job.

Take the girl on the Rimmel adverts "Get the London look." as an example. (Sorry I don't remember her name)

There's hundreds of people all over the internet taking the piss out of her gap teeth which I am not trying to do here it's not her fault she didn't get braces as a kid. But I wouldn't really see something where your endorser being bullied and insulted as a good idea to get people buying.

Now generally gap teeth isn't something most people would find attractive but somehow just because she is tall and skinny she gets all these crazy advertising deals.

I'm just saying there should be more to a model than tall and skinny, maybe if we started at the face and general warmth of the person, then we could slowly move on to having real women who are closer to a size 16 than a size 6 (although if you're size 6 there's nothing wrong with that, good on you for it if that's how you want to be but you're not exactly the majority of the female population.) One of the first things we notice about a person when we are making friends is the face, their expression such as warm and smiley or pouty and cold. It is a basic way of how we judge people and unfortunately it is a fact of life that you will be judged by appearances. Fortunately though no matter how large you are, your face can still be pretty.

I am not trying to encourage obesity (it's a sickness and needs dealing with tbh) or even promote being shallow with this post . I'm just voicing a somewhat controversial opinion and talking about how I feel could work if we face it.  If we take the baby steps of the faces we could slowly begin to actually see more worth in ourselves.

Tips that helped me grow my hair

Almost every girl at one point in their life strives for long hair, I used to have luscious long hair and then one day I decided to chop it to my shoulders :O Around 2 months after I cut it I wanted my long hair back :( so I went crazy trying to find ways for it to grow back quicker.

*Note: I AM NOT A QUALIFIED HAIRDRESSER I AM JUST A GIRL WHO GREW HER HAIR OUT*

Now before we start I will just let you know what sort of health or type my hair is. I have dyed my hair repeatedly since I was 12 years old I have varied from red to purple to ginger to blue black with red/pink ends and then to my natural dark brown. I have always had thick hair and it is incredibly curly which goes frizzy when I brush it which puts me off of brushing (very naughty I know). I also ignore the rule of going to get a trim every 6 weeks but that is due to lack of money so I just trim off the ends myself when they begin to look too dead or my hair gets too frizzy.

Now I am not saying these things I have done will work for everyone's hair a lot of people may have it different to me but hey it's worth a try right?

#1 I wear my hair up A LOT! now yeah I ain't claiming this will make your hair grow but when you finally take it down after a while of having it up you will feel like it has practically doubled in length even if only a few inches have grown :D

#2 I only wash my hair once maybe twice a week maximum now yes this will feel incredibly gross when you begin but due to having a skin condition I was used to not showering/ washing my hair daily because if I did the hot water would dry my skin out and cause it all to flake off. Times when I do need to shower but not want to wash my hair I use a shower cap. I also recommend the previous tip when you are doing this because it will hide the greasiness to a degree so no one will judge you.

#3 There is a lot of debates on whether or not to do this but I only condition the bottom 2 thirds of my hair now I know the hair grows from the root but due to not washing it daily there gets a small oily build up at the root area which is the hairs natural way of conditioning itself. I condition the ends to keep them looking smooth and healthy which I personally have found to reduce my split ends which means my hair requires less frequent trims therefore your hair grows longer between each cut :D

#4 Again another one of a debate but this is what has worked. I swap out my shampoos and conditioners every 4 weeks to a month. At the moment I currently own in my bathroom (bare in mind I am the only female in my household) 6 different shampoos and conditioners and they are all supposedly formulated for different things. If my hair feels dry one month I will use a hydrating, if my colour looks dull or my hair is particularly colour damaged I will use a colour protect variety etc.

So if I figure out more I will post them on here or in a second but for now hope you found this helpful/interesting.

Office Shoes

CLEARLY NOT SPONSORED (I don't have enough followers to get sponsored xD)

This post relates to the website http://www.office.co.uk/

I have had 3 experiences with purchasing shoes from Office online, I have bought 2 pairs of shoes for me and a pair as a gift which got sent to a place 300 miles away from my home. I thought I would write this to help anyone who was considering buying but was unsure.

All items purchased were sent to me using the standard delivery option £3.50 for UK mainland or free when you purchase the shoes at full price (check terms and conditions on the site for exact rules). I found that the pair of shoes that got sent to my friends home took longer to arrive but it still took less than their 7 days suggestion on standard delivery. I received both pairs of mine in 3 days or less so it may be the different locations or possibly the weather as it was snowing around the time of the gift purchase.

They send out emails when your shoes are dispatched and as most people generally have smartphones so the emails are a smart way of contacting customers. Generally when the email has been sent I received the shoes next morning. The latest time they turned up was around lunchtime.

The shoes came to me in perfect condition but the Jeffrey Campbells I bought had a small crease on one side of the box but it is understandable as the boxes for those shoes are so incredibly large.

All shoes purchased were bought during sales but that's more because I am a cheap skate than the prices of the store.

All in all I am happy with the purchases I have made and I think if you have the money, the want for the shoes and the temptation to buy I would suggest giving in unless you need that money to pay bills because then I would suggest you leave them unless you want them to be on your feet as you walk up and down streets selling yourself because you cant get any other job

English: American vs British

So here is going to be a face off of various words I like/ hate of each language.
I am not poking fun at either nationality but I thought it could be enjoyable to see how people feel about each word :)

Here's 4 words for now :)

1: Sidewalk vs Pavement :- I prefer pavement here, I dunno why exactly I just think it sounds nicer and sidewalk sounds like what prostitutes do while waiting for customers :/

2: Garbage vs Rubbish :- I am more used to the word rubbish and prefer it in the context of calling actual rubbish but if I am saying "you look (rubbish or like garbage)" then I prefer to use garbage even though I am a Brit and people look at me weird xD

3: Faucet vs Tap :- TAP!!!!  Faucet sounds crazy and even though it's used I have never heard the use of faucet water but you hear tap water all the time hence why it's better.

4: Cell vs Mobile :- Neither really... I normally just call it a phone lol but if I HAVE to I will call it a mobile

Being a Girl

So I am going to rate 5 of the most common labours of being a girl/woman (not including child birthing because EVERYONE knows that sucks). I will list them from my most liked to my least liked. I will also put reasons/ examples of why I hate/love them.

1: Dresses. Now I am not actually a big dress wearing girl but that's due to me being fat in the bum department not because I hate them xD I love the pretty colours, patterns, shapes, fabrics. Ahh they're beautiful.

2: Heels. Now these are somewhat of a love and hate relationship, they make your legs look good and if you're short can give you a confidence boosting height but gosh they can hurt  after a few hours.

3: BOOBS! who can't love boobs? They're wonderful helping you get noticed in a crowded place plus  xD. BUUUUUUUUT the downside? being looked at like you're a piece of meat to be used. It soon stops once you threaten their bollocks though xD

4: Hair Removal. The smooth skin feeling after a shower is amazing but all the work and pain that goes in to it is HORRID! Waxing hurts, epilators hurt, plucking hurts, shaving can hurt, shaving takes forever and makes it grow back all hard a stubbly.

5: Now this one is going to get me a lot of hate from beauty bloggers and what not but Make-up. I hate the length of time it takes to put on, how quickly you can fuck it up and how long it takes to clear it off. I think the colours are fantastic and the looks you can make are fantastic and I enjoy playing around with it but for an everyday kinda thing I don't think I would ever be able to cope with it.

Now I know you probably wont feel exactly the same way as me but is there anything similar in our opinions? share them below or make a post yourself and link it? <3

Wishlist

So here's a springtime style wishlist from me :)
The shirt and the skirt are both of a neutral colour because that's what I usually favour and the bag is pretty bright so I thought these would work better.

LITA SPIKE REVIEW

THE BEAUTY!

The spikes are insanely sharp and its fun trying to get them off, as with most shoes I have I hold the back and wiggle them off my feet but obviously I cant touch these so I have to unlace them as I have fat feet xD
I can say the fit is good, I actually bought these a size larger than my usual size and wear thicker socks because I weren't passing up on the deal of being able to buy these for 49 pound (less than 1/3rd regular retail). Unfortunately that was in January which seems like a really long time ago for me to be writing the blog post but I needed to be able to find a way to break them in before I could judge. I have an issue with any heel I wear being painful usually but these are fantastic to walk in, I get a small niggle of ouch after a few thousand steps but apart from that I am fine with these.

If you had a reason to wear these shoes often then I would tell you to go out and but them at full price but if not then I advise that you wait for the sale like I did. They are fantastic shoes but not everyone can afford 150 pounds to spend on shoes. Especially if like me they would just end up living in their box in your wardrobe.

I know it's short but hey :D

Top Ten Most Played

So hey I'm giving you another insight into my weird and crazy life :D A list of my top ten most played songs on  xD  and the amount of times I have played them xD

1: Obsession by Sky Ferreira (Played 60 times)

2: Dressin' Up by Katy Perry (Played 58 times)

3: How to be a Heartbreaker by Marina & the Diamonds  (Played 52 times)

4: Power and Control by Marina & the Diamonds (Played 47 times)

5: Only the Horses by Scissor Sisters (Played 46 times)

6: I wanna dance/ Americano by the cast of glee (Played 38 times)

7: Love Like Mine by the cast of Nashville (Played 33 times)

8: Flick of a Switch by Riskee (Played 31 times)

9: Hit and Run by Breathe Carolina (Played 28 times)

and finally

10: Delusional by Simon Curtis (Played 28 times)

What's on my iPad :D

So guys this is a place where I will write about random crap to do with me and my life, I spend a lot of my time on my iPad so I thought I would share with you a top 5 of the apps I most use and maybe you might find something you like :D
I have the first edition of the iPad. it still works and I have no need for the camera on the later editions so I am not that panicked about upgrading it maybe when it dies off from me dropping it too much I will invest in a more up to date one xD

1: Temple run 2

I am obsessed with this game, I play it constantly and almost anywhere. My current high score is 10,877,625 and I have played over 1000 games (Sad I know)

2: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

So in this game Springfield has been wiped out by an accident at the nuclear plant and you rebuild it piece by piece. It's a social game but I lack in friends and I am on level 11 at the moment.

3: Tap Tap Revenge

Most people who have any form of touch screen apple products will be familiar with this game. I started off absolutely terrible at it but now I can play most songs to a 99% accuracy minimum on extreme. It can been seen as tedious but you really do get better with practice on this game. I am currently on level 71 and I have unlocked all of the free songs in the game.

4: We Heart It

Now this is an app which works with the we heart it website, you heart pictures you like and put them into sets. I use it a lot as inspiration for photography projects and for art works. I also find fantastic images which I can save to my ipad and use as my home screen/lock screen backgrounds :D

5: Fruit Ninja

Now you will have to pay a small amount for this if you want to reach a high score of over 110 -120 as that's the limit on the free one (or at least it was when I last used it) I have managed to reach a high score of 342 but I lost it because I had to reset my iPad a few months ago :'(
